The Style Society Webzine Launch

I've been blogging now for nearly a year, my blog turns 1 in June and I have had so many great opportunities to work with fabulous brands and individuals over the past year.  I love fashion and style and I enjoy sharing my personal looks and favourite finds here as my personal style diary.  Saying that I get loads of other fashion related news, events etc that don't quite fit with my personal fashion blog so I have decided to expand my writing into a more industry related blog.  I've even tried my hand at a self hosted wordpress site too!

I have been working on a new site titled The Style Society webzine and this sister site supports UK independent labels, plus size fashion and unique style whilst incorporating fashion industry news, celebrity style, latest trends, street style, brand launches, amazing collections and fashion events.

This blog/webzine will be more information based but will feature everything I can't fit into my personal style blog.  It's in the early stages and there will be regular updates once everything gets going.  I am also looking for contributors so if anybody out there is interested in writing about fashion just pop me an email and let me know your experience as I'd love to get some regular writers on board.

I'd love for you to check out my new fashion webzine www.thestylesociety.co.uk and follow via:

OOTD - Pretty in Polka

Happy Easter everyone!  What started of as a lovely Easter Sunday soon turned into a miserable rainy day but I got time to sneak in a pretty polka inspired OOTD, one of my favourite dresses which was from my sister last year.  I'm not actually sure where she got it from but the style and colour is so nice that I can't wait for the sun to arrive to wear it.  It has one of my favourite prints polka dots and has a slight vintage feel to it which I love.

I hope everyone has had some lovely time off and not eaten too many chocolate eggs,  I've been working on another blog which I hope to release this week, it's got a different vibe to it with industry news, events and independent brands basically everything that I can't fit on my personal blog.  Be sure to keep your eyes peeled for it's launch, it's coming very soon!

OOTD - Pretty Pastels

Pastels are always a big hit for spring and this season is no exception.  I don't actually have a lot of pretty pastel pieces to choose from and when I do buy this spring trend I like to go for something with a little twist.  This cute coral and peach pastel pleated skirt is perfect for creating a pretty feminine look and adds a little something different to the trend with the block colourings.

My skirt is from Sugarhill Boutique and my basic white vest top is from Primark, as the skirt sits high on my waist it creates a lovely silhouette and flatters my curves.  The pleats make the skirt even more interesting to look and it skims my profile perfectly.  Today was perfect to show off the colours, with the sunlight really making the colours pop.  Please excuse my pink arms as got a little burnt last weekend!

OOTD - Neon Flux

I recently featured a post about citrus spring colours and my favourite picks from the high-street and online shops and following on from what's hot or not for SS14, I recently got my hands on a vibrant and zesty spring top for myself.  It definitely turned some heads on it's first outing and it's perfect to wear in the gorgeous sunshine we've been having recently.

My top is from Fashion Union and when teamed with my customised short denim Levi's creates a massive impact on the eyes as it's so fluorescent in the sunlight .  I love wearing bright colours and I'm always trying to experiment with different colours and prints to make my style a little different.

What do you think of this vibrant OOTD, it's certainly eye-catching!  It will be great for a summer night out too.  A perfect outfit for the start of my sunny Easter bank holiday!

SS14 Spring Floral Inspirations

We've all been willing the sunshine to stay out after the little glimpse we saw a few weeks ago and this weekend for many was glorious.  Many ladies including myself, saw this the perfect time to start raiding the wardrobe for your beautiful spring clothing that's been hiding since last year or hit the high-street to soak up the fabulous spring/summer offerings this season.

A firm favourite at spring is floral designs and prints.  This combination mixed with bright citrus colours is a big hit this year making it so much fun to experiment with colours that take you out of your comfort zone.  After hitting the high street this weekend and checking out the styles online, I've compiled a little floral and citrus wish-list whilst teaming it with a SS14 OOTD.

There are so many gorgeous things to choose from and whilst floral print is a key trend for SS14, it still remains a staple print every Spring so choosing something now, still has use for many seasons to come. As I'm a curvy lady, my wish list consists of many things that flatter my body shape and as I love pretty dresses, this trend works perfectly with this print to give an ultra feminine feel.  Check out my SS14 spring floral must have's:

My OOTD features a fabulous dress from the New Look Inspire range.  A label inspired and made for women like myself with curves and with on trend flattering styles for many shapes and sizes. I love the colours and print on this dress and as this style sits nicely around your waist, I teamed with a little belt to nip me in a little more to accentuate my curves. It's a perfect style for casual daywear or a summer party and looks fabulous with heels.  I'll definitely be wearing this a lot more now the sun has started shining and on it's first wear, it received so many compliments too!

'Tell your Story' with Fashionable Memory Lockets

Jewellery is the perfect gift for a loved one or a treat for yourself especially if it has a special meaning behind it.  As trends change so frequently it's nice to have something that can change with style and also is brilliant to put your own stamp on.

One fashion jewellery trend that is making waves this spring/summer 2014 is the beautiful Memory Locket, we all know the traditional style with a little keepsake (normally a photo inside) but these designs are lockets but with a slight difference.  This super cute difference is they are made so you can have unique floating charms which can be changed and added to whenever it takes your fancy.

As many of my readers know, I'm a thrifty shopper and I love shopping online as you can find some great items sometimes at the fraction of the cost of your high-street counterparts.  Saying that, I have recently been introduced to a fabulous Fashion Accessories website Seasons Online.

Seasons Online has been around online for a few years now and navigating around this user friendly website I can see why, it's packed with trendy and stylish jewellery including memory lockets and fabulous floating charms at really affordable prices.  Prices range from £9.99 to £12.99 so they definitely something that appeals to my bargain hunter instincts!

There are several varieties of memory locket and so many floating charms, it makes the perfect personalised piece of fashion jewellery.  One of my favourite necklaces has to be this silver locket with crystal embellishment, there are gold and rose gold examples too.  Rose gold is so trendy right now with accessory examples including the gorgeous Michael Kors rose gold watches that celebrities and bloggers love.

The little charms are as individual as you are so really show off things you love or who you love.  There are several varieties including little words like 'Love', 'Amor' or family member charms, also cute animals including ducks, butterflies and kittens or even charity symbol to show your support.
Take a look at some of my favourites, I think they actually sum me up quite nicely with my birthstone Topaz, my love for taking pictures and my naughty habit of drinking too much coffee!

It would be great to know what everyone would create with this lovely jewellery, take a look at the website and find your perfect personalised on trend locket.

Vintage Fair, Coffee and Cake and a spot of Shopping!

Today has been a productive yet relaxing day, this morning myself and hubby went along to a local vintage event hosted by Nostalgia Vintage Fairs at The Cedars Inn Barnstaple.  This event is run once a month and is full of lovely vintage and retro goodies.  There was a lot of home-ware items and lovely tea sets too which always catch my eye.  I was hoping for a few more clothing pieces but the selection was beautiful but a little over my budget.  The green coat in the picture was one of my favourite pieces and was such amazing quality and workmanship, the colour and style really stood out too.

The prices for vintage has gone up considerably since I started buying it about 5 years ago, I suppose back then it wasn't as trendy to shop in charity shops and at car boots.  It's a shame as that holds me back in making vintage purchases as something has to be super special and a real investment piece to add to my wardrobe.  Check out some of the lovely items at todays vintage fair, would be great to know what everybody thinks of the vintage fashion market at the minute, are you experiencing higher prices because it has gained popularity?

After the vintage fair, we headed into town for coffee and cake (my favourite combination!) and a spot of shopping.  As a fashion blogger you may find it strange that I don't spend a lot on clothing as I like to make use of donations from my sisters, charity shops and clothing sales.  I love clothing to make a statement and today I found some fabulous bright printed pieces in the River Island sale.  I purchased a top and skirt which cost £20 in total and I just loved the pattern and colours, I couldn't resist.

This week I'm also going to be launching a special giveaway for my blog reaching 1k followers which features brands such as Able Clothing, LISU Handmade Jewellery, Cupcake Couture, Olivia's Vintage and many more.   Keep your eyes peeled, thanks for all the support for the blog and to my lovely readers and followers!

OOTD - Springtime Tulip Style

My OOTD is something I actually wore to work a few days ago.  I love this tulip dress style for my body shape as I feel it flatters my curves and this particular dress is perfect for work or evenings out.
This dress is another buy from F+F and was a bargain at £10, it has a lovely floral design and I love the deep colour.  The fabric is quite delicate so I'm going to have to be careful not to snag it on anything.

Although not a springtime colour, this dress is a perfect mixture of floral design and springtime tulip style which is pretty and flattering, perfect for several occasions.
